Circadian Contraptions Day 81

Being in the mood for something weird, I decided to do something about the view from my balcony. I now have a nice view on the mountains and the aurora borealis. As well as a pair of huge lips that seem to be inexplicably floating in the air in the exact same way that bricks don’t.

Circadian Contraptions Day 80

Amy send me a tutorial for illustrator that looked like a lot of fun to do, so here’s a nice gem made totally from scratch in Illustrator.

Circadian Contraptions Day 79

A long, long time ago, in a school no so far away… I learned about perspective. I used to make pretty complex drawings with it on paper, but as a starter for getting back into it (and doing it digitally) i went for something relatively simple. 2 houses and a doghouse. I’ve left the “help lines” visible for an extra effect, and added some cheap shading to make it more visually attractive. It’s a two point perspective, with one of the two being offscreen.

Circadian Contraptions day 78

One of the prime uses of photoshop is making things look better than they original were. On that note I’ve decided to enhance a very fine bottle of bourbon whiskey into something that looks even better.

Circadian Contraptions day 77

On my way to work I found this great sunrise. the scene itself is not much to talk about, but the blue sky, the white horizon and the orange ground gave me an idea to make something of a reversed flag. A bit of messing later and I came up with the following idea of a rectangular “windows” inside of another window inside of the old color setting, going from the original colors to more basic colors. in three steps

Circadian Contraptions day 76

Sometimes beauty can be very close to home. But sometimes beauty also comes from ugly things. Just over the horizon lies “Westland”, one huge stretch of land filled almost exclusively with greenhouses. What’s so ugly about this you ask? The horizon pollution. There’s no longer any real darkness here, and stars are impossible to see due to all the bleedover light from both the town and the greenhouses. That’s all a bit besides the point though. I took a pretty picture of it this morning, and the uncanny yellow glow gave me the idea of making it even more surreal then it started out as. Both the original and the edited one are here included.

Circadian Contraptions Day 75

To promote oneself, one needs a webpage. My www.rosered.org is nice for the contraptions, but I need something more professional if I want to use it to advertise myself for voice over work and such.
Hence I’ve set up http://ambervanderzwan.rosered.org which will also server as my contraption of today. It’s nowhere near finished yet, but I think I’ve made a good start.

Circadian Contraptions Day 74

Another day another contraption. Today was spend all day at the studio, for the last day of voice training. Unfortunately, i did not get the sound files i got from them to take home with me yet, but I did do something else at home, where I hope i applied a lot of what i learned.
Included one pic of me in the studio.

Circadian Contraptions Day 73

It was about a year and a bit ago that #professorelemental ‘s ape Geoffrey went missing. On his travel through space and time he dropped in with me for a spell, and was doing his usual monkey business. I managed to capture this picture of him before he went on again.

Circadian Contraptions Day 72

As a reaction to my radio show SteamBeats I’ve heard repeated that I should do more with my voice. I like working with my voice, even if I have my own set of issues with it, so in November I went to a workshop voice acting. This was so much fun that I decided to do the followup course as well, including an audition. Today was the first of a three day training, which will end on sunday with the making of my demo tape.
Included as the 72nd contraption is an exercise I did today for a Kaspersky commercial.
