Circadian Contraptions Day 126

I helped my friend Moon today to learn a bit about photoshop and what can be done with it. In the “lesson” I’ve described how to use the raw camera filter, how to use the path tool to make a path and how to edit it, how to convert the path to a selection, how to use clone stamp and how to use the healing spot brush. Using these tools we’ve deleted a boat from the canal and put a rubber ducky in it’s place

Circadian Contraptions Day 125

Over the last couple of weeks, one thing I’ve found out is that I love black and white photography where the contrast between light and dark is really strong. Today my cat Ghost was sitting next to me on my arm rest, and posed very nicely for today’s picture.

Circadian Contraptions Day 124

So last week I ordered a 3d pen on sale, and today it arrived. It’s harder to draw with then it seems, but it’s a lot of fun messing with it.
Today’s contraption is a couple of tryouts, and a semi-successful bicycle made with this pen.

Circadian Contraptions Day 123

I’ve been writing today, and as that is a creative art as well, I’m using that as my contraption. It says chapter one, but there’s been a prologue that explains a bit of the background. This should be readable on its own though, and make sense. The setting: a virtual reality massive multiplayer online role playing game that has just gone live.

Chapter 1: Hello, World!

The first thing I noticed upon entering the world was the cool breeze on my skin. Upon opening my eyes I noticed I was dressed in a simple cloth items. I giggled a bit at this, for some reason all the starter equipment in any game always looked like crap. I guess it’s incentive to go out and get better, but really, did it have to be almost falling apart?

Circadian Contraptions Day 122

A more serene and clean try at the program i played with 3 days ago, not much to say but i like the aesthetic of this one.

Circadian Contraptions Day 121

Today was another exercise on glass, this time following a tutorial. It looks a lot better i think than the perfume bottle, but its not quite there yet. The shadows and dark/light sections in the refraction’s miss a certain coherence. I’ll keep at it though.

Circadian Contraptions Day 120

I’ve tried to work on drawing from vision today. I’ve got this perfume bottle that has a “leather” cover on one side, and glass on the other. I’ve tried to draw it, but I’m not too happy with the results. I don’t know how to make it better without starting over, i might try that later on, but i think I’ll do some tutorials on drawing glass first. Here’s today’s attempt

Circadian Contraptions Day 119

Today’s contraption was made with an app called Craze on Android, and some after effects with photoshop. It’s a fun tool and its rather easy to get some amazing effects.

Circadian Contraptions Day 118

As a proper nerd I have a lot of props lying around, not just at home, but also a few at work to brighten up my desk. For example a “snow”globe of sauron’s eye. The picture was originally taken for the red feather sticking so nicely from the deathtroopers helmet, but the globe gave me an idea to make it a glassball (palantir if you hold to the LOTR lore I think), and let it show a different view instead.

Circadian Contraptions Day 117

On my way to my training today I was station Utrecht. Whilst there I saw what I imagined to be a very crappy job indeed. It was raining rather badly, and this guy was out there washing the windows of this enormous station, from the outside, in the rain. Even though he will never find out, I made his job a little better by giving him a sunshine umbrella. Protects from the rain and bathes you in sun.
