Continuing with the idea of toys in unexpected situations, I’ve dropped a giant figurine in the space between the apartment buildings here. The lighting is not 100% in order on both, but i think i got most of it fixed so that it doesn’t look too out of place.
Circadian Contraptions day 95
Valentine is upon us, and when looking for inspiration on what to draw today its not long before you come to the “hearts” and “roses”. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I set forth to do thus, but with a little bit of what I hope is a unique and interesting twist. The rose picture was taken last summer, the heart drawn today, and both combined give the following result:
Circadian Contraptions Day 94
It’s been snowing here, and although I do not care much for snow when traveling, it is very pretty. Today’s contraption was a picture taken from my balcony, which i then made a lot starker in contrast en finally using the outlines made in to the result shown here.
Circadian Contraptions Day 93
Keeping with the theme of last night, I decided to work some more on the picture of Saffron. The dark background is not photoshopped, but actually just an empty black trashcan to get the proper setting effect.
Circadian Contraptions Day 92
I’ve always been a little bit intrigued by vector images. If done well, they look awesome, but when you zoom in just a bit too far, they get an abstract quality to them. On one hand there’s a bunch of squiggly lines and areas that are seemingly disconnected and seem to hold no relation with the original picture, yet all of those together still portray so much more.
Today’s contraption is a photograph taken of a miniature from Firefly, a girl called Saffron. The picture was imported into photoshop, cleaned up, moved over to illustrator, added the live trace for the vector effect, and back to photoshop for the finishing touch.
Circadian Contraptions Day 91
As I’ve shown last week I need to work on eyes. Not so much the quality of the eyes, but just to make a matching set. Today I’ve worked on that a bit. I’ve tried some eyes of different shapes and levels of detail, from rather complex to pretty darn simplistic. Just by putting down some help lines for upper and lower edge, and knowing that there should be the width of an eye in between the eyes, the result is already much better than what i achieved before. Not perfect, but much much better 😉
Circadian Contraptions Day 90
Continuing with yesterdays theme, I made a gear in illustrator, textured it and added some life to it, and then used the same technique as i did yesterday to etch the letters into the copper gear. Finally i added some other gears (not home made) for the background to not be static white. The idea of the partial gear with my name on it comes from another logo idea, if you look at the partial gear it resembles an A shape.
Circadian Contraptions Day 89
When I was looking for something to do for today i ran into a tutorial that made text seem like it was etched out of wood. I rather liked the effect of it, so set out to make something similar myself.
Circadian Contraptions Day 88
The crazy 88. It wasn’t intentional but this here kitten did become part of the crazy 88 due to her eyes. Uneven, wrong tilt.. i dunno, i always have problems with getting 2 similar eyes but meh.. i guess thats yet another thing to practice on.
Circadian Contraptions Day 87
A while ago I’ve drawn an ear. Although it was pretty good, the style i didnt care much for, and it needed some work. This here is another attempt. It’s not quite up to par with the lips and eye yet, but it’s a lot better than the other one i think. More natural, less stylized. For comparison, the 1st attempt can be found here
